During these trying times, we have explored all options for making patients and staff safe in our office. Each of our staff members have received the full vaccination for COVID-19. We continuously strive to raise the bar and go beyond what is required of us to ensure the safety of all patients and staff. Dear Patients,

Our office is ideally suited to deal with the treatment of dental patients during the COVID-19 crisis. We have completely isolated, individual treatment rooms with large sliding doors that open to the fresh air outside. We have multiple entrance and exit doors so patients never need to cross paths. We utilize state of the art extra oral evacuation systems with HEPA filters that suction away 97% of the aerosols between the patient and clinician while work is being done. We have changed our scheduling practices to accommodate extra time to thoroughly clean and disinfect treatment rooms in between patients. New Patient Protocols:
A) Patients get to wait outside, in the comfort and safety of their own cars if they wish, until a private room is ready for them.

B) Marin County requires people to wear a mask before entering the office.

C) A health screening form is filled out at the front desk and the patient’s temperature is taken (All office personnel have their temperature taken twice daily)

D) Once a patient enters their treatment room, they may place belongings on a designated surface before washing their hands at the sink.

E) In order to limit exposure, we ask that you keep your mask on until instructed otherwise

Office remodeling for infection control
We have an ideal setting by having doors that close off the rooms from the rest of the office and sliding glass doors that let in fresh air and recirculate naturally as well as making the rooms feel more open. We’ve made the following renovations to our office to better accommodate our efforts to keep our patients, staff and office Covid free:

A) New doors that isolate each room from the rest of the office, reducing exposure to aerosols created in other rooms with other patients.

B) Flat door handles that can be wiped down more easily and help to open doors without needing to touch with dirty fingers.

C) New cabinet handles that can be wiped down more easily.

D) New floors that are much easier to disinfect.

E) Surfaces cleared to make it more accessible for wiping down after each patient.

F) Use of plastic barriers to eliminate cross contamination.

G) A plexiglass barrier at the front desk.

H) Waiting room cleared of all unnecessary materials and highly limited use (Patients to wait outside until called in for initial health screening).

I) A dedicated changing room whereby scrubs and shoes are changed into at the office and not worn to and from home.

New Equipment

A) Extra oral evacuation systems to eliminate up to 97% of the aerosols generated during dental procedures.

B) Use of P100 respirators (by dentist, hygienist and assistant)beneath dental masks to filter a minimum of 99.7% of aerosols.

C) Use of face shields during dental procedures.

D) Use of cutting edge head light which helps maintain personnel to patient distance and eliminates potential for contamination of old dental light.

E) New, more efficient computers and software to reduce time in the dental chair.

Our Practice

Corte Madera Family Dentistry was started in 1962 by James Garrett Sr.  In 1975 he was joined by his eldest son, James Jr. and in 1985, Cameron joined the practice.  James Sr. and James Jr are both enjoying retirement leaving Cameron to carry on the Garrett tradition of providing quality, caring dentistry for the generations of families, neighbors, and friends the Garretts have been looking after.
